The object of the game is to move all your pawns past your opponent's and then remove them from the board. The pawns are scattered at first and may be blocked or struck by the opponent. Each side of the board is made up of 12 triangles, called points. The points are considered to form a continuous track in the shape of a horseshoe, and are numbered from 1 to 24. Each player begins with two pawns on his 24 point, three pawns on his 8 point, and five pawns each on his 13 and 6 points.
This is essentially a good game spoilt by having text and dice that are far too small for a mobile phone screen unless your eyesight is very good. The fun of backgammon is deciding what pieces to move, but all my concentration goes into working out what the dice throw is. Fortunately, the 'computer' shows what moves are feasible for each piece, but that is a cumbersome way of working out the dice throw, and won't necessarily catch doubles.
The game is otherwise well thought out and could be enjoyable to play were it not for that major shortcoming.
