The creators of “Bulletstorm” People Can Fly have unveiled their new game in partnership with Square Enix. It’s called Outriders, and it looks like a cross between Destiny, Borderlands, with a little hint of Mad Max.
Revealed during Square Enix’s E3 2019 showcase, the next game from the creators of Bulletstorm is called Outriders. From what we’ve seen so far, it looks like it borrows a little from Destiny, and a little from Borderlands, set to be a 1-3 co-operative shooter.
In a press release, Square Enix described the Outriders universe as “dark and desperate,” complete with drop-in co-operative mechanics. The trailer offered a glimpse at some of the game’s makeshift tech, gigantic hulking alien forms, and strange cultist-like enemies.
Creative director Bartosz Kmita had this to say about the game, which takes place on the planet of “Enoch,” as players hunt down a “mysterious signal.”
“Draws on all of our experience from previous titles. It’s a game we’ve wanted to make for a very long time. We describe outriders as a dark modern shooter, geared with traditional values. We’re creating an experience with a strong story you can enjoy with your friends, or on your own. We’re confident we’re building a shooter with powerful gunplay, incredible weaponry, and a hostile new world where you’ll want to spend many hours.”
