Review
of Warhammer 40k Space Hulk
|
| Daniel Hippensteel | I love the board game and this is a very good rendition for my cell phone. It took a bit but I figured out how to save my progress and that made it better in the long run. So I heartily recommend this for space hulk fans!!! |
| Dean Risley jr | This is a perfect rendition of the board game. That plays very well and can be a bit addicting. |
| Andrew Timlin | Interesting enough quasi-strategy game, but gets boring after repeated plays and graphics arent up to much. |
| Mathias Haage | A great game but the ai is too easy to beat, especially when playing gene-stealers. |
| Colin Parsons | Good rendition of a brilliant game... |
| Eric Shen | As a boardgame - it's faithful to it's predecessor.
As a warhammer fan - it's something to look for on the mobile.
As a strategy game - it doesn't rank highly.
Let me say from the start - I am not a warhammer enthusiast. I like strategy games.
On the mobile, it is slow and low/2d resolution. So you are reliant on gameplay.
As a game, it has an awkward learning curve. Instructions could be a lot better documented (and makes assumptions that you already know warhammer). The tutorials are okay, but can be frustrating if you get stuck.
Once you get over these hurdles, the rules are fairly simple and straightfoward. The missions are scenarios which you have to pick the right moves and use the right weapons to reach your objectives.
As a strategy mobile game - I would look at other games instead of this one ... Unless you are a warhammer fan. |
| Joonas Joensuu | An excellent timewaster for those who loved the original version. Faithful enough ruleswise. The only thing i'd like to complain about is that the "normal" difficulty is rather easy and the "hard" is insanely hard. |
| Miss v Martin | Great game works well on the u600 just as good as the classic board game. Be careful with low specification phones as it can be slow. Very adictive and fun. |
| David King | Turn based tactical top down terminator vs genestealer goodness :-)
A real blast from the past.
This is the same game as the old pc version (if you can remember that one) but shrunk down to fit on a mobile screen. |
| Ronny Anderssen | This game is a gem! It's perfect for the mobile platform, as is basically all turn-based games I have played so far. I really like that you can save any time you want and come back later. That is a very important feature, very few mobile-games have understood. |
| H l Carlile | Brilliant game, if you have played the board game and old playstation game you will love this. It is very faithful to the originals and the miltiplayer is very good for long journeys. |
| David King | I'll say it from the off - this game is for 40k fans only. If you're not a fan, stop reading and find another game, 'cos you won't understand this one. If you are a fan, like me, then this game is a good re-creation of the classic game. The controls are very nice, with excellent graphics and sound fx to compliment. However this game has oe big let-down - once you've completed the first few missions, it is obscenely repetitive. The genestealer missions are frustrating, as you get shot to pieces, and a marine player like me can't control them well - I assume the same applies the other way round. Still, while it's new it's a blast - 6/10. |
| Charles Moores | This is a good version of a classic game.
As a person who has played the original board game and computer versions I highly rate this version. |
| Edward Spencer | I have the samsung g600. This game doesnt play well on it. Got bored really quickly. |
| Mads Greve | A great game, got the rigth feeling from the boardgame. Lots of fun.
Glory to the emperor, purge the xenos. |
| Chad Taylor | Wow, this game is a great recreation. Very strategy-oriented, though, and make sure you have enough time for each mission. This is not pick up and play for a quick bit of fun. |
| Rachel Bess | Incredible game! I would give it a 10 but for 2 issues:
1. The load times are ridiculous
2. Not enough levels.
Beyond that, fantastic rendition of the old games workshop tabletop game. |
| Zooey Nordstrom-gilma | Very very nice. Havent had time to play this game a lot, but seems to be a very solid turnbased tactic game. If only I could play it on my htc s710 ... |
| Adam Roberts | Superb recreation of a classic. Ai on some levels the only quip otherwise highly recommended. |
| Gregory Haynes | Excellent version of the classic games workshop boardgame. Strongly recommended for 40k enthusiasts. |
| Louise Paul | Good all round stratergy game, which has excellent graphics and enjoyable game play. |
| Michael Fransioli | I am a big fan of strategy games. On first glance, space hulk seems all too simple. You can basically move your units or attack with them, with one or two special options here and there. Trust me when I say, it is only deceptively simple. As the space marines, you have superior strength and firepower, but here's the catch: the alien genestealers have overwhelming numbers and each genestealer can execute more moves in a turn than any space marine. Therein lies the entire challenge of the game, and that alone is plenty sufficient to turn each session into an adrenaline-filled race to get off the derelict spaceship alive. Not too many games I can think of that gave me equal doses of deep strategic planning and sheer panic. |
| robert riley 04 | An almost perfect copy of the original board game. |
| Justin Morgan | Fantastic! Just like the old amiga and pc game, took me right back. An excellant rendition of the original game which will keep you occupied in hours of absorbing gameplay! Plan your moves wisely or your brave spacemarines will die a horrible death at the ravening claws of the genestealers that infest the hulk on which your missions take place. A definate must for any followers of space hulk or warhammer 40, 000. |
| Gareth Cadamy | Excellent game for those who know the table top version. Great way to pass the time! |
| Thierry Gilgen | I played this game for samsung d500 and it did not look like the screenshots above. I was quiet confused because 1 review said that there are a lot of different units but infact can only be the space marines and the aliens. Anyway still a great game I liked it even more than black hawk down which I gave 7/10. So space hulk gets 8/10. |
| Mark Saunders | Looked good but unfortunately did not fit my phones screen too well(motorola slv l6). |
| Gordon Dahms | A fantastic mobile game, plenty of levels and units. Spent a whole week playing this game non stop when visiting relatives. If you have played 40k you must get this game!. |
| Thomas Brown | Exactly like playing space hulk the board game! Amazing, and can even be played 2 player! |
| Cassandra Hargitt | I love this game, great graphics, and difficult to put down. |
| Paul Haworth | The look and feel of the game are very good, everything easily identifiable as the unit you are controling.
The play is quite good, but the reason I can't give more than 6/10 is playing on my sony erricson t610 is painful. Because of the phone, the game play is so slow as to be hard work.
This seems a shame, as the gameplay seems otherwise good. The speed on this phone though mars what appears to be an otherwise good game. |
| Roger Herkelmann | Excellent recreation of the board game. |
| Ian Hayward | Faithful to the original boardgame. Easy to use and a good way to kill time. |
| Robert Matthew | I played the e710 version - and would not recommend that particular version. It bears very little visual similarity to the screenshots above, with the perspective locked to a 2d overhead view - no 1st person - that looks very basic and uninspiring. The gameplay itself is very addictive, but there's all too little of it. I assume other platform's versions of the game make up for this shortfall in some way, but I fell somewhat disappointed with this sadly lacklustre game. |
| Darren Millar | Excellant true to the original game. Nice and easy to play although a little easy to win as space marines. If you are a fan this is a must. |
| David Andrew | Surprisingly good. Takes me back to the board games. |
| Justin Morgan | One of the most faithful adaptations of a board game I have ever come across. This game is easy to play and very absorbing, found my self still up and playing it around 3am after going to bed at 11. Tactically challenging and even replaying the same level is different every time. Hours of replay ro be had with this game! Any one who has played the board game or pc/amiga version will find it very familar and enjoyable. But anyone would find this a excellent addition to their game collection!! Go on and try it, you wont be dissapointed!!!!! |
| matthewfox17 | A grand game that combines the addiction of the orginal board game with the extra punch of good graphics makes this one of the best games I have played. A must have for anyone who likes a challenge. |
| Graham Mccutcheon | Top notch-if you liked the board game you will love this. |
