Review of
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - Dash

| Mark Teo | In terms of gameplay, well, it's the sonic 2 you know and love, except with an (understandably) worse framerate and a few gameplay tweaks to reduce the filesize for the mobile version. Most notably (and as with sonic 1), the special stages are removed. However, unlike in sonic 1, where they basically skipped the special stages and you got an emerald as long as the other conditions were met (50 rings at the end of a level), you got the emerald. This time, however, you oddly need to collect a full hundred rings before going to a star post to get your emerald. Given the fact you're playing this on a phone, it's just unnecessarily hard to be expected to be able to hold onto (or even get) a hundred rings all that often.
In general though, i'd say sonic 2 works better on a phone than sonic 1 did. Sonic 1 was slower and had a greater amount of more precise platforming, meaning the phone controls made even fairly simple parts needlessy difficult. Thankfully, sonic 2's platforming is generally a lot less precise, so you don't run into as much control-based frustration.
With the level design better-suited to mobile controls than the first game, and more levels, this is definitely worth getting. |
| Mohammed Soboh | Amazing game just the one I was looking for... But was missing stages unfortunatly.... Although it cant get more original than this! |
| Eamonn Colfer | Great. Just lke the original game. Great music. But no sounds affects. |
