Once youve launched the game, youll have a choice of six different exciting modes. Start out by tackling the Arcade mode, specially created for the mobile version. Attempt to unlock new skins and new types of blocks as you advance through the 20 levels. In addition, youll have to be prepared to face the four bosses who will stand in your way and engage in split screen duels. Youll also be able to access battles like these directly in the VS CPU mode.
On top of all that, Lumines Mobile offers all the game modes that youll find in the PSP version. In the Challenge mode, youll start the game with one simple skin and try to unlock all of the others by racking up points. In the Single Skin mode, choose your favorite skin and shoot for the high score. If you dont have much time, you can race against the clock in Time Attack mode and eliminate as many blocks as you can in the given time. Finally, the Puzzle mode will totally make you lose your mind! Youll need to arrange squares of the same color to copy the shape drawn in the background.

| Jamie Darlington | Kept me absolutely hooked. The idea of the game might be simple but it's pulled off very well, and without any bugs. It's not quite tetris as you know it, although it does involve 4-block puzzles... It's hard to explain so i'd recommend looking at some screenshots. I wasn't familiar with the game when I bought it, only hearing from these reviews that it was previously released on the psp, but now that i've played it for myself I recommend it to anyone be they a hardcore mobile gamer or someone just wanting to kill 5 minutes waiting for a train. 10/10 - why such a high score? Because I completed it about 3 weeks ago and i'm still playing the various game modes simply for fun! |
| Nyasha Mukonoweshuro | To be honest, the only thing that initially attracted me to this game was the e3 award it won. I didnt really know much else about it at the time, but it was enough to make me purchase it. But I dont regret a thing!
This game had me hooked in the same way tetris did back in the gameboy era. It has no story, no real ultimate goal... Just challenging fun that you can easily pick up... And struggle to put down.
The concept is pretty simple, blocks of different colours fall down a'la tetris and the aim is to create cubes of 4 or more of the same colours to remove them. Each time you do this you earn points, and you advance to the next stage after getting a specific amount of points. At intervals you will face off against a boss, where the aim is to outdo him/her/it untill their screen gets too small and overfills.
The beauty of this game is in its simplicity. It took me a good 30 seconds to initially learn to play (give or take), but with its progressively harder levels make it difficult to master. When you find a game as addictive and fun as this, that doesnt rely on a heavy storyline or killer graphics you know you've found a true gaming classic.
I usually try to look for a good and bad to everything, but with this, I really cant find a negative... Well.. Except that its not available on the nhs... |
| Russell Booth | Fantastic! Great time-wasting, head banging, battery devouring fun. More addictive than certain illegal substances. My only complaint is that challenge mode seems to go on indefinitely and I am only forced to give up when my eyes start to bleed... Also, is the second round in the puzzle mode possible? I can't get past it. Infuriating, but a mother of a puzzler. |
