| David Collins | Ok, firstly i'm an aussie f1 fan and secondly I can't stand ferrari! However gameloft have constructed an exciting mobile game in ferrari world championship. "ferrari" aside, the game plays in typical gameloft fashion with speed boost gained by keeping to the preferred racing line and also their typically detailed graphics. There's the usual quick race and championship mode where you race as either kimi raikkonen or felipe massa. Choosing kimi, I raced as well as I could but was shocked I was up against only ferrari f1 cars! Oh well, at least my driving was matched by others in the same make of car. You can tune the cars pre-race, and the resultant gains are displayed. Pit stops are mandatory but you can "choose" when to pit. I tried disobeying the calls to pit with no perceptible disadvantage. If you gain higher than 3rd in the basic championship mode, you unlock expert mode where braking is available as well as new cars. There's also a classic mode, where you can drive the 1950's ferrari 500 f2! I noticed in melbourne, track authenticity is out the window, as I saw the sydney harbour bridge popping up, and the other track layouts take quite some liberties with the real tracks and their layouts. You can race "in-car" as well as from "behind", but the cars behave as in other gameloft racing games, with sudden sideways motion in cornering. Those points aside, this is a fine racing game in its own right, and an exciting f1 racing experience. The main letdown is the use of a full red ferrari racing grid lineup; it would've been better to include other manufacturers. Overall: great, go get it! |
