Anthony Punshon	I was excited to see double dragon ii available for the phone. I�m always on the look out for retro game remakes as I think remaking old games is a great idea because the technology matches well. However, this is really not how it should be done! This is about as awful as conversions get. Just to pick on a couple or flaws, the first place it falls down is having attack left and attack right keys. This is fine for a computer or arcade machine which has a joystick and buttons set up, but on a phone keypad, it becomes very awkward and complicated. In fact the whole keyboard setup is clumsy, and no matter how you redefine the keys, there�s no intuitive way to set up this game. Another quite large downfall is that of weapons. Double dragon and its sequels was one of the first games to pioneer knocking weapons out of the bad guy�s hands then being able to pick them up. However in this conversion, you can only pick them up as long as the enemy which brought the weapon is still alive. You can�t kill enemies then take their weapons, as soon as that bad guy breathes his last breath, his weapon disappears! Problem with this is, while you�re trying to pick one up, there�s another guy on screen trying to dish out a kicking and when he makes contact, you drop the weapon, so this is very frustrating! As the weapon system was one of the main features of double dragon, this all makes for a serious drop in game play. I don�t know whether this game was rushed, or the company converting just wasn�t up to the job, but it really should not have been this bad. To put this into perspective (tech spec alert!) for those who are old enough to remember the zx spectrum, it had 14% of the memory this game uses, ran at 7% of the speed of my phone, and had 8 colours of which only 2 could be displayed in any 8x8 pixel square. Yet the spectrum conversion was very faithful to the original and the term �infinitely� doesn�t do justice to just how much more playable it was! I really can�t find a redeeming feature to this game. If you played this as a kid, my advice is to avoid the phone version like you life depends on it. If you�ve never played this before, please, please don�t let this be your first exposure to what was once a great series! I�ve yet to play a good martial arts based game on my phone so can�t recommend an alternative of the same genre to try, but if you like action games and want to see how good a mobile game can be in the right hands, check out prince of persia classic instead.
Matthew Wardrope	Just like the mega drive :) brings back some memories. Great classic.
