Review of
Asphalt Urban GT 2 3100

| Chris Walker | Asphalt urban gt2 is the sequel to the mighty impressive urban gt. Get a vehicle, trick it out and race through the streets of various cities ramming your competition and avoiding the cops.
This time round gameloft use a 3d engine for their racing title, and the result is pretty good.
As always, various game modes are available. The basic gameplay is evolution, win races, rack up money, buy better parts all while avoiding the cops. Duel is a one on one, betting money making it more interesting, the higher the stakes the more police presence there is. On the most part this works well, but the police presence is over the top even on easy . Beat em all is where you need to wreck your opponents before the end of the race, while enjoyable its incredibly hard to actually win at this game mode. And finally we have cop chase, be the cop and stop the top racer. Not a bad twist which give the game longetivity.
There are 8 tracks and 10 vehicles from sports cars to 4x4 and even bikes. All of which can be modified and upgraded both visually and performance wise. This all becomes available by unlocking the better parts and vehicles by winning money from the races. Each vehicle drives differently and the change in visuals is a welcome addition.
The visual side of urban gt 2 is pretty impressive, various backgrounds for the different cities. Buildings, walls, tunnels and lamposts all 3d modelled. For the most part they are pretty bland but at high speeds they just become a blur.
The game handles high speeds well and has slow down and photos when wrecking opponents and passing speed cameras. This all adds a little something to the game. Especially for the trouble you go through.
Overall its a very full racing game, some annoying little bugs but dont let that you from enjoying this quality game. |
| Jamie Darlington | One of the most complete mobile phone games i've played in a long time, it's surprising how much customization they can fit into such a small package, it really does feel like you're playing a mini version of the much-loved "need for speed" series of games on the 'real' consoles. It's challenging enough to keep you playing if just to unlock that next kit, or next car or track.
The addition of motorbikes as well as an off-road vehicle seems like a nice touch too, and the gameplay in any of the four modes (evolution: a standard tournament race mode, duel: race one computer opponent for the gold, beat 'em all: destruction race mode to destroy the opposition, cop chase: become the police and try to chase down and force the lead racer off the road) is enough variety to keep bringing you back to this game over and over.
The tracks and new vehicles seem rather easy to unlock but they are only half the challenge, as you also have to amass cash to allow you access to new special upgrade parts which both alter the vehicle's performance (handling, speed, acceleration) as well as visuals (colours, vinyls, rims, bodykits etc).
All in all a well thought out game that plays through (so far) completely bug-free! |
| Johnny Nwagwu | Spectacular scenaries 8 or 9 different tracks at least 8 or 9 diffenent vehicles including two motorcycles 5 different modes of play cuztomizable paint and body kits upgradeable parts. |
