Review of
Advanced Karpov 3D Chess 3125
|
| Ian Edwards | I have two chess games for my mobile, karpov 3d and chessmaster.
Karpov 3d plays well; the ai is good, and , as a learner player, it gives me a good game and i'm sure that the harder levels will keep me on my toes as I improve (hopefully!). It is possible to save games in progress to continue at a later date, which is handy if you're playing is interrupted at all.
This is the plus side, but there are quite a few minuses. The interface is difficult to use; it is hard to be certain which piece you are moving and where you've put it. In fact, it is much easier to see what is going on in 2d mode! On top of that, it does not boast the same range of extra features that chessmaster does. For example, chessmaster has a library of classic games which, as far as i'm aware, kapov 3d doesn't. These classics are excellent to learn a bit about the great games. Also, in any game you play against the ai, chessmaster will tell you which opening has been played. This is very useful when you come to analyse what went wrong when you lose! Karpov 3d doesn't do this.
So, in conclusion, if you want a game to play on the train, karpov 3d will fulfill that function more than adequately. If you want to know which I think is best, then I would recommend chesamaster. |
| Richard Midwinter | A great game with plenty of viewing options, including 2d and 3d. The game can be a little slow to load a new game, but the ability to play a saved game over again helps to improve ones strategy. It does have a tendency to show 'check mate' before it is actually achieved but the game can be played to conclusion nevertheless. I definitely recommend this game. |
| Lori Diamond | The interface is horrible. The engine is challenging. You simply cannot see your peices. Very cluttered. There are better chess programs available. No point having 3d if you cannot rotate your view. |
