Destiny 2 was officially revealed back in March, with a worldwide release date of September 8, 2017. The next iteration of Bungie’s flagship shooter was announced to arrive on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, alongside the series’ expansion to PC via Blizzard’s Battle.net service.
Speaking with PC Gamer, game director Luke Smith has now revealed the PC version of the game might not be available at the console launch, with a potentially delayed release at a later point in time. A release date for the PC version is still yet to be decided, to ensure the game arrives in a polished state.
We’re not committed to a PC date yet, but at Bungie we’re totally committed to making a PC build as great as we can. Our partnership with Blizzard and being on Battle.net, we want to make sure that this version of the game has the time it needs to bake in the oven so it’s a delicious piece of bread when it comes out.
Smith continued by clarifying he couldn’t provide a time frame on the PC version’s arrival, but Bungie hopes to make an official announcement “in the coming weeks”.
