Board games and funny things on mobile. Some lend themselves very easily to mobile conversion; chess, connect 4 even monopoly. Some are harder to get a good feeling for a game on a mobile phone, and cluedo definately falls into this category.
We all remember playing cluedo as a child, i'm sure. Carefully ticking off suspects, making deductions and then finally making a wild punt of an accusation and hoping that your guess work has paid off. Its hard to put that in a mobile phone. Ifone have previously had an attempt at it with cluedo sfx, which attempted to alter the rules a little and gave us a new environment, but ended up being repetitive and dull, so I was interested to see what ea's montreal team could do with this new licence from hasbro.
And what a good job they've done of it! From the off we have innovating, interesting menus and interaction. This game is no longer a chase from room to room, and a roll of a dice to see if there is anything interesting in there, but ten scenarios of increasing complexity (if not difficulty) with the player taking on the role of a crime reporter, sent to the house to get a scoop for the editor.
Interview the suspects, find out their dark secrets, search rooms for clues. Because each scenario has been designed, and not just randomly generated, then you get a genuinely interesting experience. Each scenario has multiple endings as well, so there is plenty here to stop you getting bored.
All of the original elements which make cluedo interesting are included; all the boring trudge which has left previous conversions second rate have gone. Sound and graphics are first-rate.
This game is perfectly balanced, and if it was a little faster on my se 890i, then it would have got 10/10.
A great game, and the best game of the year so far. Wholly recommended.
This murder mystery is based on the board game with all the main characters and settings featured. In the various games you play a journalist who needs to work out who committed the crime and how. The game is enjoyable and easy to follow, has great graphics and plenty of different crimes to solve. A great game that keeps you entertained for hours.
Good fun game, although it doesn't quite work properly with this phone, I suspect the software has been quickly ported over from the original phone and merely translated as best as possible. It isn't a bad game by any means though, does what cleudo is meant to do!
