In the sims 2 pets you look after a puppy that you care for by feeding, playing and cleaning up after. You also train your four legged friend and get promotions in your job which helps you afford to buy new things so you can complete objectives. It's a fun little game, although it can be completed quicker than I would have liked.
I had problems with my version of the sims bowling but from what I gather it's more than just a regular bowling game. Each time you score well you gain a bit more popularity, but the meter is hard to fill so it adds to the replay value.
Overall i'd say that it's well worth the price as both games may work for you and would cost the same if you bought only one.
